St Patrick’s Day assembies in New Row

16th Mar 2019

Congratulations to all our boys and girls who sang, played, read or danced at our St Patrick’s Day Celebration Assembly.

We were very proud of them all! Every class and every child - from Y1-7 - learned a different song which they performed for parents and friends.

Y1&2: I’m a little leprechaun and I’ll tell me ma

Y3: Spanish Lady

Y4: Molly Malone

Y5: Star of the County Down

Y6: Rattlin’ Bog

Y7: Mairi’s Wedding & Wake me up (As Gaelige)

We also had a display of musicians (beginners, intermediate and more advanced) playing a selection of Irish tunes including our instrumental group who were runners up this year in County Derry Scór na bpaístí.

The assembly ended with a display of dancing, with 5 schools of dancing represented: Smith, O’Neill, Millar, McNicholl & Allen.

These opportunities are a great way to showcase the talents of our pupils. More importantly though they are and opportunity for children to develop confidence and courage when performing for others, whilst supported by classmates. Feel the fear and do it anyway! We are so very proud of them all! Thanks to all the parents and family members who took time out of their busy day to come and show their support. Huge thanks to all our very dedicated and talented staff who prepared the children. Definitely at team effort!
